Downtown Silver Spring Refresh
Over the past 20 years, downtown Silver Spring has been transformed into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, office-retail-restaurant-entertainment hub as outlined in the 2000 Silver Spring Central Business District Sector Plan. An outdoor park and gathering spaces are just two additions that will be a part of the new, $10 million exterior refresh that will take place over several years beginning in 2020. Access to Public Transportation
Springvale Terrace is a metrobus stop for Routes 12, 15 and 19. For more information about metrobus routes, please use this link for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation.
At this time, the community is only a 14-minute walk from the MARC BRUNSWICK – WASHINGTON at the SILVER SPRING MARC eb stop. However, we have exciting news: Springvale Terrace will soon be close to a stop on the new light rail called the Maryland Purple Line – MDOT MTA Purple Line! Construction of the Purple Line has commenced with completion expected in 2023.
The Purple Line is scheduled to be a 16-mile long light rail line stretching from Bethesda in Montgomery County all the way to New Carrollton in Prince George’s County. The Maryland Transit Association reports that it will provide a direct connection to the Metrorail Red, Green and Orange Lines at Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton. The Purple Line will also connect to MARC, Amtrak, and local bus services.
